A message from the Maine Department of Education to school superintendents:

Good Morning Superintendents,

As the situation and response continues to evolve, we wanted to make you aware of a couple of new resources and a webinar that will be hosted today at 10:00 for food service providers.

We have added additional resources for your work in the development of continuity of learning plans. Thank you to MCLA for their partnership in gathering resources! SEE HERE, under Resources for Schools. While we continue to monitor the situation closely and weigh in on the implications for closing or not closing schools, it is VERY IMPORTANT that SAUs prepare for the possibility. These plans should be approved by the school committee and be ready to launch. Current guidance is to develop or have a means to provide up to two weeks of material. This is our best guess at this time.

In addition, we have added a DRAFT of a decision making model that has been provided to us from Maine CDC about school closing. SEE HERE.

The webinar with our Child Nutrition Team will primarily focus on how to open or access a Summer Food Service Program option for remote consumption. The webinar login has been shared with both primary and secondary school nutritionists, but you are welcome to join. The login can be located here:  https://attendee.gotowebinar.com/register/4010686771129343756

In addition, resources about COVID-19 is now available in multiple languages on our webpage. See bottom of page.

As always, we are here to help and support you, and cannot thank you enough for your leadership during this trying and constantly shifting time.
